St Margaret's Church, Uxbridge, Middlesex, England

St Margaret's Church can be found right in the heart of the town of Uxbridge, Middlesex, at the top of Market Street and just off the High Street. There are parts of the church which date back to the thirteenth century but extensive re-development has taken place in the intervening years. The old town well can be found by the church, providing even greater historical backdrop to what is Uxbridge's oldest remaining building.

The pictures to the right have been taken from different points around the perimeter of the church, which effectively sits in a form of traffic island.

There is evidence of a chapel of some sorts existing on the present site as far back as 1245, though there are some suggestions of it dating even further back. Part of the tower featured in the top picture is the oldest remaining feature of the church, dating back to the fourteenth century.

Wow, Sheila!

I am glad to have been able to provide them for you!

Sadly, I now live a long way from Uxbridge or I would have offered to send you more. I haven't lived there or been there for over a year. These pictures were taken in 2008.
